Jazz in Lithuania
61In 1988 I went to Lithuania for the first time where I attended the first Vilnius Jazz Festival. I went there with a band who performed at this festival. It was a great experience, I fell in love with Lithuania, a country still under Soviet occupation at that time. I went back to Lithuania again and again, I made a lot of friends there, and in 1998 I decided to live there. During that time I wrote this article about Jazz in Lithuania, which was published in several magazines around the world.

Thanks for this very interesting Hub. I am always fascinated to hear about jazz in other, unusual, places. Some years ago I met some jazz musicians from Finland and have their CD which is great. Also of course Polish jazz - there are some great musicians there, including Tomasz Stanko. I would love to hear some of these Lithuanian players.
Love and peace

A most informative piece. I'm with TonyMac; it's always interesting to hear about jazz in other countries. I'm going to check out your reference to Youtube. Thank you.
I have listened to all types of jazz music and am a collector. I did not know about Dutch Jazz and some serious Spannish Guitarists from Spain. I an glad to hear about jazz in Lithuania. I will track down all the artists you have mentioned above. I also have people from Lithuania listen to my Internet radio station called FASTTRACKS found on Live365.com/stations/djtot12. It will be fun if you checked it out and hung around to make out the depth and dearth of music played there. I have learned something and am going to collect these artists you mentioned in your hub. Great stuff!
