Three Little Birds Decide to Enjoy their Freedom

By nextstopjupiter

Two little birds were sitting on a roof. These two birds were ordinary birds and the roof was an ordinary roof, and it is not unusual that two ordinary birds are sitting on an ordinary roof.

But there were not only these two little birds on this roof, a glass was standing on the roof, and this glass was filled with whisky. It was an ordinary glass, filled with ordinary whisky, and it is unusual that an ordinary glass filled with ordinary whisky is standing on an ordinary roof next to a place were two ordinary birds are sitting.

And that created a problem for our two little birds: they had to decide to drink or not to drink the whisky. They really did not know what to do but in the end they decided to drink. But just at the moment they started to drink, another little bird arrived on the roof.

"What are you doing there?", this bird asked.

"We just decided to drink the whisky", one of the birds replied.

The conversation continued.

"Don't you know who put this glass of whisky on this roof? Somebody who does not want you to sing your beautiful bird songs, somebody who does not want that you leave this roof and fly away to enjoy your freedom. Don't you know that this whisky would harm you, maybe you never would be able to sing your bird songs again and you never would be able to fly away to enjoy your freedom! This roof will be like a cage for the rest of your life."

The two little birds had no answer on it.

"Come on, let's sing one of our beautiful bird songs together, and after that we fly away to enjoy our freedom.

And so it happened. They started to sing together one of the most beautiful bird songs you ever heard on this planet, and after finishing the song they flew away to enjoy their freedom.

In my case, my singing sounds a whole lot better if the listener has had a couple.

I love the opening- all the repeated "ordinarys"! It has such a lovely rhythm. I feel the jazz influence, actually- well, it is musical!

It reminds me of the theme song of the movie "Crazy Heart." I really like it.

In the ordinariness of life, people seem not to notice that their choices "cage them for the rest of their lives". Before they knew it, there's no more escape.

This hub reminds us to take our time, weigh our decisions carefully, to avoid mistakes. Those little birds are lucky, they listened, and understood. Good hub!

Those birds need to talk to some humans about how that whiskey will imprison them!

Good hub. They would only have been imprisoned by the whisky if they got hooked on it.

It conjures up a picture of the birds staggering around the roof, displaying antisocial behaviour. Singing raucous songs instead of their own bird songs. Hahahaha. Very funny indeed.

If only 2 little birds would really listen to another. Very thought provoking and creatively written.

The one bird helped the two birds take the high road, keeping them from harming themselves and possibly others. Good stuff to read on this St. Patrick's Day!

..greatest thing I've ever read at the HUB - not just because I'm partial to sweet little birds, great music and good whiskey - I'm also kind of partial to the great writer - behind this!

Posting this masterpiece on Facebook page with a direct link back here so hopefully more readers will come your way.

Any temptation, howsoever, enticing should be resisted if the cost of it is giving away one's freedom! I really liked your story and its insightful message!

Thank you for sharing!
